Time to hedge against an AI apocalypse. At least, that’s what Elon Musk’s latest project is all about. The billionaire has laid out his vision for “TruthGPT,” a maximum truth-seeking AI that would rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT and aims to avoid the destruction of humanity. Are we the only ones losing track of how many projects Elon is on?
In other news… India is on the up and up while AI unlocks new possibilities in both gaming and design.

Generative AI unlocks a new level of game development
The Future. AI is revolutionizing the video game industry, making it easier and cheaper to create high-quality games. But since developers are only legally limited to use the works they already own as the basis for generations, there may be a risk that games start to look, sound, and feel too similar to previous titles.
OverdriveEvery major game developer is testing the possibilities of AI.
Electronic Arts is using AI to create pre-visualizations of games.
Ubisoft launched Ghostwriter to help craft first drafts of dialogue for background non-playable characters (NPCs).
Roblox is set to release its own generative AI tool that will let developers change elements within games or experiences via text prompts.
NetEase, a Chinese firm, leverages AI to diversify the languages of NPCs.
Custom language model
Relying on AI to build out elements of video games may be efficient, but it does run the risk of producing some unexpected and weird results when it comes to dialogue. It could also put developers at risk of litigation if the AI system uses copyrighted material to create generations.
Developers are already preparing this, ensuring that humans are overseeing every aspect of AI creation and training AI only on their owned IP. According to WSJ, startup Scenario Inc. built a tool that filters generators like Midjourney to only produce results that have custom parameters — a boon for developers looking only to source their previous work or work they own.

AI may make a designer out of anyone
The Future. Canva CMO Zach Kitschke believes that AI can fashion anyone into a designer… and that’s going to be a key skill for anyone in marketing or content creation. As businesses further rely on videos, visual decks, and other illustrative presentations for pitches and communications, AI may take the burden off learning the nuts and bolts of how to create them.
Quick creativeFor anyone working in a visual medium, AI has the power to be an indispensable “digital teammate,” according to Kitschke.
Canva’s Visual Economy Report found that 61% of 1,600 business leaders now expect non-design employees to have some design experience since so much communication is now visual.
With how easy AI is to use, it may soon become to design what a thesaurus is to writing or what Pantone is to interior decorators.
This is especially important for marketing teams who don't have the manpower or budget to effectively create the amount of content needed for digital outlets.
As an example, Kitschke points to Nestlé, which has created a pipeline for its 15,000 marketers across 2,000 brands to use AI in their work. Time will tell if that unwraps some new creativity.

Ryan Reynolds gets serious with payments firm Nuvei
But, his marketing will be full of jokes...which is exactly what Nuvei (a payments services firm aimed at the sports industry) is likely after. Reynolds invested an undisclosed amount, but unsurprisingly, news of the funding sent Nuvei’s stock up. Hilariously, Reynolds said, “I know about as much about fintech as I did about gin or mobile a few years ago. But Nuvei is impressive [...] and it’s about time a Canadian company got the type of attention American tech companies do.”

Hollywood writers overwhelmingly approve strike authorization
The Writers Guild of America is locked in a heated battle with the Hollywood studios (represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) on a new working contract. With negotiations reportedly at a logjam, 97.85% of voting members cast their ballot in favor of a strike authorization — meaning, if a deal isn’t reached by the deadline of May 1st, the WGA can call for a strike. In that case, it’s pens down and picket signs up.
