A New Startup Lets AI Agents Rent Humans For Tasks

A new New York-based startup allegedly allows AI agents to autonomously hire humans when a task calls for a flesh-and-blood person.
The Big Picture: AI agents have evolved so rapidly over the past year that they can now work for days at a time without human intervention, finishing complex tasks across platforms. But there are still things code inside a stationary computer simply can’t do… which means humans are necessary to see some tasks through (hooray for legs and opposable thumbs).

Users can allegedly sign up to be “rentable humans,” listing their skills, location, and — most importantly — their pay rate for completing various tasks.
The AI agents can connect with these human contractors via the app’s MCP or API and provide the details of what needs to be done.
Once the human hire completes the job, they are paid through stablecoins… allegedly.
Human Prompt: Why do we keep saying allegedly? Reputable media sources aren’t sure whether RentAHuman is actually real… or, if it is, whether it’s a scam. That’s especially true when the startup (hilariously) dubs itself the “meatspace layer for AI.” Still, RentAHuman claims to have racked up 2.8 million site visits and onboarded 192,272 “rentable humans,” per Inc.
