AMC Theatres And Arena One Partner On Live-Concert Series

AMC Theatres and Arena One have announced a new partnership that will bring live concerts to movie theaters across America.
The Big Picture: The live-music industry is booming, making major artists more in demand than ever. The only problem is… well… supply-and-demand economics, which is making tickets to see popular acts prohibitively expensive. AMC sees an opportunity to cater to fans who want a great concert experience but may not have the resources to attend live and in person.
Behind The Curtain: AMC is positioning itself as the next can’t-miss tour stop with its new Arena One at AMC program.
AMC will simulcast one-night-only concerts in more than 300 theaters nationwide, all livestreamed from Arena One’s specially designed stage in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
Depending on the artist, tickets will range from $40 to $75 (before taxes and fees) — conveniently landing somewhere between the average movie ticket and the average concert ticket.
AMC says it plans to recreate the live-concert atmosphere using “innovative interactive technology” designed to capture the “crowd buzz, sound, and reactions flowing back and forth between the fans and performers in real time.”
The AMC-exclusive program will debut in June with performances from Bebe Rexha, Paris Hilton, Kim Petras, and Maren Morris, with more artists expected to be announced soon.
Encore: AMC has been bullish on music-focused experiences as a way to help fill post-pandemic attendance gaps, especially following the success of Taylor Swift’s concert films, The Eras Tour and The Life of a Showgirl. And after the record-breaking success of Michael — which many audiences attended in part to feel like they were at a Michael Jackson concert — it’s no surprise that AMC is doubling down.
Coming Soon: The biggest risk with the program is that AMC has never livestreamed a concert before — and no one wants to watch the big screen buffer. But if AMC can deliver a smooth experience, the initiative could become a major revenue driver for the theater chain.
