Amelia Dimoldenberg is ending her popular YouTube talk show, Chicken Shop Date.

The Big Picture: Dimoldenberg’s show has become a go-to stop on the press circuit for movies, shows, albums, and even some campaign trails. She was part of a new generation of YouTubers who were able to turn a clever gimmick into an influential series, thanks to a deep well of charm and great interview skills.

Behind The Decision: After 12 years, Dimoldenberg is taking her last bite of chicken — on camera, at least.

  • The show has 3.4 million subscribers on YouTube (where the full interviews air), and millions more across TikTok and Instagram.

  • Dimoldenberg’s show really took off in 2021 after she interviewed rapper Jack Harlow.

  • The show has been named alongside Hot Ones, Subway Takes, and On Purpose with Jay Shetty as digital series that are as influential as the typical late-night talk-show circuit.

Last Bite: The British creator hasn’t revealed what exactly she’ll do next, but she already has a budding writing career outside of the show — she’s writing a romcom for Amazon MGM and a young adult show for the BBC. Her on-camera talents are also finding more traditional outlets, including serving as a red-carpet correspondent for the Academy Awards three years in a row. Additionally, she founded a creative studio called Dimz Inc., which specializes in live events and on-air interviews.

In other words, she has options. No chicken needed.

Prediction: The next generation of hit internet shows may have shorter lifespans. As creators expand into film, television, and other ventures, fewer may feel the need to keep a breakout series running indefinitely.
