Google Develops A New AI-Powered Browser

Google is testing two new internet browser products — “Disco” and “GenTabs” — that combine the best of searching the internet yourself with a little help from AI.

Why It Hits: As AI revolutionizes how we use the internet, tech companies are waking up to the fact that people still like manually browsing webpages… and publishers are big mad about traffic being diverted away from their sites, wrecking their web revenue. Google’s new tools could address both issues.

Behind The Code: Google’s Chrome team may have just built its future.

  • Disco is a new browser that lets users query a chatbot, which answers in chat and opens several related tabs so you can explore further.

  • GenTabs is “Googling meets vibe coding,” per The Verge, giving users the option to turn related tabs into a curated app — like an itinerary, flashcard system, or research hub.

  • Both are available to play with via Google’s Search Labs program, which collects user feedback on early-stage, experimental features.

Final Task: Users can then continue refining their searches in Disco and edit the GenTabs, which Chrome innovation lab leader Manini Roy says creates a “virtuous cycle” of users collaborating with AI rather than passively relying on it.

Roy showed The Verge various demos, including using Disco and GenTabs to plan a trip to Japan and build an itinerary planner, an interactive model explaining how the human ankle works, and an entire toolkit for planning a cross-country move. In other words, all refreshingly positive use cases for AI.

The Future: If people get the hang of the tools, they could be what replaces Chrome — the world’s most-used browser.

Build Apps Without Writing A Single Line Of Code

Don’t know how to code? That’s okay — Base44 makes app development fast, intuitive, and accessible to anyone.

Here’s how it works:

  • Users tell Base44 their idea

  • The AI creates the app, complete with components, pages, flows, and features.

  • And… yeah, that’s it.

Base44’s capabilities are nearly limitless. Want to make a reporting dashboard? A gaming platform? An onboarding portal? If you can imagine it, Base44 can build it.

The platform also handles everything like backends (user sign-ins, data storage, etc.) and hosting (enabling instant usage and sharing of the app), so you can focus on just being creative.

And with a scalable pricing model that allows users to freely access its core features and then upgrade for cool additions over time, Base44 works for developers at any budget.
