New NYC Spots Bring All Entertainment Under One Roof

A new batch of entertainment destinations in NYC are becoming complexes that combine various activities — dining, entertainment, retail, education, and social gatherings — all under one roof.
The Big Place: The experience economy is in full swing as young people shake off the remnants of isolating habits from COVID and mostly reject a digital-first lifestyle. But there’s a dual problem at play — economics are tough for business owners, and rising costs are a struggle for consumers. By putting an entire night out in one place, it could be a win-win situation for both parties.
Between The Walls: In NYC right now, more is merrier. Here are some of the places making headlines, according to Bloomberg:
Rewind is a 9,000-square-foot space that combines a bar, restaurant, and private karaoke rooms.
One Bryant Park occupies 10,000 square feet at the base of the Bank of America Tower and houses three separate Japanese restaurants.
Brasserie Boulud, also spanning 10,000 square feet, features a dining room, a speakeasy, and a retail space called Épicerie Boulud.
Hill Country, the most ambitious of the destinations, features a BBQ dining room, an area for line dancing, a store, and a private space for cooking and mixology classes, all spread across 10,000 square feet.
Last Bit Of Fun: These entertainment options let businesses squeeze more dollars out of each person who walks through the door while helping customers feel like they’re truly getting something special when they leave the house. For example, Hill Country owners Kristen and Marc Glosserman said foot traffic increases by up to 50% when they have some extracurricular programming going on.
People want places where they can do everything.
The Future: Expect these types of spaces to become the hot new trend in hospitality, dining, and entertainment across the country. It’s about creating third spaces where people actually want to hang out.
