Nvidia CEO’s Jacket Sells For A Million Dollars

A black Tom Ford leather jacket once worn by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sold for nearly $1 million at auction.
Why It Pays: There’s always been a market for clothes worn by CEOs in Silicon Valley, with pieces worn by Steve Jobs (black turtlenecks) and Mark Zuckerberg (OG Facebook hoodies) fetching tens of thousands of dollars. But no article of clothing has ever reached the heights of Huang’s signature leather jacket… potentially signaling a new era of fandom for Big Tech bigwigs.
Between The Sleeves: Sotheby’s expected to net at most $60,000 for the $10,000 signed jacket Huang wore during a Foxconn visit to Taiwan in 2023…
…but no one expected demand to climb quite so high.
45 different collectors placed a total of 65 bids for the “Jensen Jacket.”
An anonymous bidder on the phone made the winning bid of $960,000. (Jensen, is that you?)
All proceeds from the sale are going to the Edge Institute, a nonprofit that trains educators and entrepreneurs, per Fast Company.
Final Fit: Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, said in a statement that “the response to this sale surpassed even our highest expectations.” But maybe the collector community should’ve been prepared for some fireworks. Zuckerberg once commented that “this is worth more because it’s used” when Huang gifted him one of his leather jackets at a 2024 conference.
Looks like Huang has officially turned his signature style into legend.
Prediction: With Anthropic, OpenAI, and Palantir selling out of branded fits, maybe corporatewear is having a moment. A signed piece from a CEO might just be the ultimate status symbol.
