The Future. Music management legend Scooter Braun is officially putting his representation days behind him, focusing his efforts on his C-suite role at HYBE America — the American arm of K-pop powerhouse firm HYBE. Considering his track record of launching unknown acts like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande into superstardom, expect a new crop of Korean artists to start ruling the charts under Braun’s guidance.
Ending the day-to-dayScooter is scootin’ away (sorry, we had to) from the artist management services that made him one of the most influential people in music.
He posted on Instagram that he was officially doing so to focus on his role as CEO of HYBE America and board member of HYBE.
The announcement comes after a year in which many of his top clients, including Bieber, Grande, and J. Balvin, left him (and sometimes returned) because of alleged unavailability.
Moving forward, his SB Projects firm will be run by longtime partners Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels.
Braun, who’s spent 23 years in management, has been teasing a step back from management for two years, especially after he sold his Ithaca Holdings (which controversially purchased Taylor Swift’s masters from under her) to HYBE for $1.05 billion.
With his absence, many in music might be wondering: who will be the next Scooter Braun?
