Happy Monday, Future Party. It’s finally happened — the first major US criminal case involving insider trading on a prediction market. US Army Special Forces Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke, who was involved in the operation that captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, allegedly used classified intelligence to place a series of bets on Polymarket tied to Maduro’s removal… and walked away with roughly $400,000 in profits. But Van Dyke may not be cashing in after all. Federal prosecutors have charged him with multiple offenses, including wire fraud and misuse of confidential information — which could carry up to 60 years in prison. Talk about high stakes.

The NFL Draft Is Blitzing Socials

Touchscreen touchdown // Illustration by Kate Walker

The NFL turned this year’s draft into a masterclass in how to drive social-media engagement in real time.

Why It Hits: Social conversation is nearly impossible to control, so the NFL’s push to not just drive it but respond in real time requires active engagement. Last week was certainly a triumph for the league’s digital prowess, but it could also signal to sponsors, advertisers, and brand partners that creating content directly with the NFL is a winning strategy.

Between The Posts: The NFL’s social team may be the true MVP of the draft, according to Fast Company.

  • A dedicated 10-person crew onsite in Pittsburgh (and in offices in LA and NYC) produced roughly 1,000 pieces of content per day, averaging 33 pieces per hour.

  • They captured what was happening live while also responding in real time to sponsors, teams, players, VIP fans, and influencers.

  • Part of that strategy is to be the “source of truth,” according to the league’s SVP of global social and influencer marketing, Ian Trombetta. With so much misinformation surrounding the draft, the NFL positions itself as the benchmark for accuracy.

Last Down: As an event, the NFL Draft is a big deal. Not only are the lives of 257 football players changed, but hundreds of thousands of people descend on the host city, and it’s routinely one of the most-watched events of the year. In 2025, 600,000 people showed up in Green Bay, while 13.6 million watched across broadcast and streaming. Official NFL social channels pulled in 500 million views. This year’s numbers are expected to climb even higher… potentially making it one of the most active social weekends in America.

Well, that is until the World Cup this summer. It’s football vs. football.

Next Draft: As storytelling becomes the currency of branding, expect the NFL to spin its most popular draft picks into long-form narratives — the kind that evolve into premium series and documentaries.

McLaren Racing Just Signed An 11-Year-Old

McLaren Racing has signed 11-year-old British driver Harry Williams to its esteemed Driver Development Programme.

The Big Picture: Pinpointing athletic prodigies is nothing new — most major sports have a pipeline from elementary school to the big leagues. But motorsports typically isn’t one of them. So, the signing of Williams suggests that the accelerating popularity of F1 is inspiring more young people to get behind the wheel.

Behind The Helmet: There’s a strong possibility that Harry is the coolest kid in sixth grade.

  • He’s the youngest racer to sign with McLaren’s Driver Development Programme — unseating Lewis Hamilton’s record of signing at 13 years old in 1998.

  • McLaren will help Williams develop his racing skills, “ensuring the young driver masters the fundamentals of speed and strategy long before he ever straps into a single-seater cockpit,” per Hypebeast.

  • Harry currently competes in karting but will be trained to graduate to IndyCar, endurance racing (the Hypercar team), and eventually F1.

  • He’ll also likely get significant face time with potential brands, helping him build a portfolio of sponsors as he moves up the ladder.

Last Lap: For an 11-year-old to get signed by one of the most prestigious teams in the world, he’d have to be a pretty good racer… and he certainly is. Hypebeast notes that Williams “captured the 2025 British Open Championship, secured the coveted ‘O’ plate in the Italian Waterswift Series, and locked down a top-five finish in the European Waterswift Championship.” He’s already graduated to the next karting category and immediately took third in his first major competition.

So, yeah, this kid is going places… fast.

Next Race: Prepare for more racing teams to sign increasingly younger talent to stay ahead of the competition.
