Happy Wednesday to all who celebrate. Did you know that Cheetos just made their own font? It’s meant to evoke what it looks like when your dominant hand is covered in zesty Cheeto dust, so you have no choice but to write with your other hand. In other words, very poorly. The results are hilarious… and the stunt is genius.

Batman Screenwriter Debuts Emergence Metaverse Franchise
David S. Goyer — the screenwriter behind big-budget franchises like The Dark Knight trilogy and Foundation — has unveiled a massive metaverse-storytelling project called Emergence that wants fans to participate in worldbuilding.
The Big Picture: Emergence isn’t the first metaverse project attempting to mix blockbuster storytelling, fan crowdsourcing, and Web3 monetization… but none have had someone of the stature of Goyer behind it. If the project takes off, it could develop a new way to build IP for Hollywood.
Behind the Scenes: Emergence — which “centers around a white hole known as the ‘White Fountain’ that ejects thousands of mysterious relics throughout the galaxy that possess incredible power” — is coming out of beta after six months in the writers’ room.
The project, built on the Story blockchain and backed by a16z, is the first from AI storytelling platform Incention and allows every user to contribute to the world — from crafting narratives to developing characters and relics to adding to the musical score.
When creators garner enough votes for their contributions to be officially included as canon, their creations are given a digital watermark, so they can earn money when people engage with them, purchase them, or share them across other mediums.
There are also a number of tools to get people started, including a guide called the “World Bible” and a proprietary generative AI tool dubbed “Atlas” that’s billed as a “creative partner.”
End Credits: Atlas seems to be the truly novel element of Emergence. The tool will continuously expand the boundaries of the world. It can also generate images and videos that are autonomously shared to social media to drive engagement and reach new users, manage the community of Emergence, and “gauge online sentiment to refine its creative process,” per Incention.
Goyer, who says he falls somewhere in the middle of “AI doomsayers and AI adopters,” believes the ultimate value of Emergence will be in its eventual ability to become a massive choose-your-own adventure. That could give emerging storytellers an opportunity to find an audience… and maybe capture Hollywood’s attention.

Aging 101: Biological Age And How To Improve It
Everyone knows their chronological age, but biological age is different.
It measures the rate at which your body’s cells break down — AKA how fast you’re aging.
Aging (and the health problems that come with it) is inevitable. But new Navy-backed research suggests that an optimized dietary nutrient called C15:0 could actually slow aging and increase longevity. Meet Fatty15, the world’s first science-backed C15:0 supplement:
Offers 36+ cellular benefits
Has more longevity-enhancing benefits than rapamycin (another longevity compound)
Want to hit pause on your biological age?
Tubi Wants Its Super Bowl Touchdown
Fox is set to stream the Super Bowl next month on its FAST platform, Tubi, which could be the streamer’s biggest breakout moment so far.
The Big Play: FAST platforms have been exploding in popularity over the past couple of years, thanks to Gen Z audiences who have cut the cord (or never even had the cord) but are looking to also cut down on the costs associated with premium, ad-free streamers. That could help the Super Bowl find a fresh audience.
Behind the Broadcast: Fox is ensuring that Tubi is the biggest winner on February 9th.
Fox is gearing up a big ad campaign for Tubi, including a 60-second ad and a 15-second spot during the game. The campaign is described as “weird and wacky” while leaning into the unique sub-genres that have become popular on the streamer.
Tubi will also air a pre-show, which will feature “coverage of the celebrities, fashion, and other cultural moments” associated with the Big Game, per THR.
According to Tubi CMO Nicole Parlapiano, the pre-show is meant to “attract people who ‘want to be part of the cultural moment,’ but are not necessarily football fans.”
The Future: Considering the Taylor Swift factor is back in play this year because of the Kansas City Chiefs, Tubi is likely aware that the Super Bowl is the perfect storm for a growth Hail Mary. Tubi’s audience leans younger and female (hello, Swifties), so we wouldn’t be surprised if the streamer’s monthly active users, which have hit 97 million, rush past the triple-digit mark.

74.9% of you voted Yes in yesterday’s poll: Do you think lessons from LA’s rebuilding effort will influence how other cities prepare for disasters?
“Especially the more vulnerable cities, like New Orleans and Miami.”
“I hope so, at least! Climate change is a real thing and impacts everyone, including infrastructure.”
“There’s a huge amount of brain power and talent in LA! I hope it’s used to benefit all our futures. It’s a rare opportunity brought on by tragedy.”
“Honestly, I feel like no one wants to worry about anything until it actually happens to them.”
“For a city to prepare for major disasters, everyone would need to agree on a unified plan. Given the polarized nature of issues like climate change, budgets, taxes, and zoning, that’s unlikely. Expecting landlords, tenants, business owners, and politicians to align sounds ideal but isn’t realistic. The status quo persists, because no one is willing to change.”
