New SoundCloud festival gets a gaming remix

Future. SoundCloud’s first gaming and music festival, The Player One, is set to jump on the Twitch and Fortnite bandwagon, but the move makes sense with the amount of crossover between music and gaming fans. All the playersSoundCloud’s about to drop a collab between live music and gaming.

  • SoundCloud just announced The Player One festival, which will take place on Thursday, February 18, from 8pm-11pm EST.

  • It will be hosted by esports commentator MonsterDface, and feature a headlining performance by Rico Nasty.

  • There will also be a Fortnite tournament that will be streamed live on SoundCloud’s Twitch channel and Facebook page.

OverlappedAt first glance, the mashup may seem random, but there’s actually a lot of crossover between SoundCloud musicians, esports gamers, and the streaming platform’s mission of building community.

  • 49% of SoundCloud users also identify as gamers.

This isn’t the first time that SoundCloud has ventured outside of its lane: last year, the company launched its first fashion line with GRVTY, created to spotlight new, popular designers like Orlando Urbina and Marshall Tan.
