Happy Friday, Future Party. Well, it’s officially official — ByteDance has closed the deal for TikTok’s US operations. The “TikTok US Data Security (USDS) Joint Venture” is composed of seven, majority-American owners and has named former WarnerMedia exec Adam Presser as CEO. All we can say is thank goodness we don’t have to write about this deal anymore.

AI Siri Is Coming To All Apple Devices
Apple announced that it’s transforming Siri into the company’s first AI-powered chatbot, which will be released on nearly every Apple device later this year.
Why It Hits: It’s no secret that Apple has fallen behind in the AI wars, watching as nearly every competitor has leapfrogged it in innovation. But Apple’s plans for a fully updated Siri, integrated across its device ecosystem, could be the magic bullet that not only puts it in the same conversation as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Meta AI, but also makes it readily available to billions of customers worldwide.
Behind The Code: The new Siri — codenamed “Campos” — will replace the old Siri and reshape the iOS experience on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Users will be able to interact with AI Siri via both voice and text starting with iOS 27 and iPadOS (codenamed “Rave”) and macOS 27 (codenamed “Fizz”).
Users will be able to search the web, create content, generate images, summarize info, analyze files, and leverage personal data to complete tasks (but, sticking to Apple’s privacy-focused reputation, its memory of past interactions will be short).
Since it’s embedded into Apple devices, it can do things like “control device features and settings, allowing it to make phone calls, set timers, and launch the camera,” per Bloomberg.
It will also be integrated into Apple’s core apps, letting users ask Siri to compose an email in Mail to a contact about calendar plans or search for an image in Photos based on specific editing changes.
Final Prompt: Users will be able to interact with AI Siri via both voice and text starting with iOS 27 and iPadOS (codenamed “Rave”) and macOS 27 (codenamed “Fizz”), all set to launch in September. The company plans to reveal more in June during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
There will surely be questions about Google’s role in all of this — Apple is paying the competitor a billion dollars annually to access Gemini, which is the foundation of the new Siri. Bloomberg reports that Apple is designing Siri in such a way that the underlying model can be switched out over time… potentially buying Apple enough time to replace Gemini with its own when ready.
The Future: With renowned former Apple designer Jony Ive building a device for OpenAI, 2027 could be the ultimate showdown for how the general population accesses AI — via an Ive-designed screen-less device or the Ive-designed iPhone already in their pocket.

Universal Catches Pokémon
Universal is expanding its deal with The Pokémon Company to potentially bring the popular media franchise to its parks around the world.
The Big Picture: Theme parks have grown into the ultimate battleground among media conglomerates, with Disney and NBCUniversal recently investing tens of billions of dollars to expand their offerings, leverage valuable IP, and meet the growing demand for unique IRL experiences. And with the film and TV industries going through a period of consolidation and contraction, theme parks are proving to be a consistent revenue generator.
Behind The Scenes: Millennial nostalgia is about to get a big boost with Pokémon coming to Universal Studios.
Universal Studios Japan struck a deal with The Pokémon Company to “offer more innovative, immersive, and world-class Pokémon experiences [...] across the company’s global footprint.”
THR notes that details are still locked inside a Poké Ball, but the deal suggests that “rides, attractions, or even lands could be on the table.” The two companies have already been collaborating on parades and shows since 2021.
Considering the rollout of Universal’s Epic Universe in Orlando and its family-focused theme park in Texas, Pokémon could one day pop up there as well.
Last Battle: As Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, the franchise has seemingly found renewed cultural relevance for the Gameboy and trading-card staple (IYKYK). That’s part of a newfound global fascination with anime and manga that turned Kpop Demon Hunters into Netflix’s biggest movie ever and made Sony’s Crunchyroll streamer into a hit far outside Japan. These days, everybody wants to catch ‘em all.
Coming Soon: It’s only a matter of time until Disney makes a strategic acquisition in the anime space to compete with Universal.

36.4% of you voted I never get food delivered in yesterday’s poll: What usually makes you order food delivery?
“Between the constant increases in the price of the product, combined with delivery charges, taxes, and tips, I just can’t afford it anymore. I’ll go out and get my own, or in extreme circumstances, I’ll just have something delivered from my grocery store.”
“Only delivery of food I will accept is pizza, as I feel all other food arrives already cold and feeling like leftovers.”
“We live in the country — very few food delivery services will come out our way, so we don’t use them frequently. When we do, it’s either because we don’t want to go out or can’t (adult beverage night) — and no one wants to cook. Basically, to call it as it is: pure laziness. (That should have been an option LOL.)”
