Happy Tuesday, Future Party. 2026 is the year of unexpected hip-hop side hustles. Actor Tom Hardy, rapping under the pseudonym Frankie Pulitzer, dropped an album with rap supergroup Czarface (it’s great!), while MrBeast did a verse on Lil Baby’s remix of his song “Dead Fresh” (it’s… not as great). Who should try spitting some bars next? Chris Pratt? Martin Scorsese? Dame Judi Dench?

IShowSpeed Launches A Scavenger Hunt With A Million-Dollar Prize

Courtesy of IShowSpeed

Top streamer IShowSpeed (real name Darren Watkins Jr.) is teaming up with men-focused personal-care brand Dr. Squatch on a scavenger hunt that blends the physical and digital worlds.

Why It Hits: Brand sponsorships and passive ads just don’t cut through the noise these days. People want interactivity, community, and maybe even the opportunity to strike it rich. It’s what has turned MrBeast into the biggest creator out there. Now, IShowSpeed is getting in on the action, building on the recent content that has taken him traveling across the world.

Behind The Competition: SPEEDRUN: Million Dollar Mission wants to be the Amazing Race of social media, per Forbes.

  • The competition will include 25 challenges across the US, Canada, UK, and Australia through October 31.

  • Those challenges will take place online via “social media, hidden briefcase hunts, and TikTok Shop loot boxes” and offline at “more than 4,000 Walmart stores and select retail partners [that] will feature in-store displays and QR codes tied to the competition.”

  • Participants can win cash prizes totaling $1 million, with $250,000 on the line during the final competition.

  • Hundreds of other creators are also slated to join challenges, host content, or visit participating Walmart stores… so expect a lot of collabs to pop up on social media.

Final Challenge: Dr. Squatch hatched the idea for the competition and then approached Speed to see if he’d want to link arms because his fandom is one that “reacts, participates, and competes,” according to chief brand officer John Ludeke. Speed agreed, saying it “fits how my community already interacts with my streams.” Both parties worked with experimental ad agency Applied MSCHF to mount the complicated scavenger hunt.

And with 184 million followers, Speed has enough of an audience to make the effort more than worth it.

Prediction: Expect SPEEDRUN to be the first of a wave of activations that seamlessly weave the physical and digital worlds into a singular experience.

Markiplier May Save GoPro

Courtesy of Markiplier

Popular creator-turned-filmmaker Markiplier (real name Mark Fischbach) has become the largest single shareholder in camera company GoPro.

The Big Picture: There have been plenty of successful examples of creators launching product-focused businesses over the past handful of years… but Markiplier might be the first to take a major position in an existing public company with the hopes of supercharging both its reach and sales.

Behind The Investment: According to Bloomberg, Fischbach may not be a professional investor, but he has loads of conviction (and money).

  • Fischbach has long been a big user of GoPro cameras, but he was shocked to learn the company was worth only $110 million after its stock lost 90% of its value over the past five years and the company recently began exploring a sale.

  • So, he started building up a portfolio that now accounts for an 8.5% stake in the company — about $9.35 million.

  • Additionally, GoPro has struck a sponsorship deal with the creator, which will likely see him become the face of the company’s next ad campaign.

Fischbach said of the position: “I saw the stock and where it was, and I was like, that seems undervalued. It’s just something I’ve been cooking in the background; I want the company to succeed.”

Closing Thoughts: It’s one thing to be a fan, and another to feel compelled to spend over $9 million to prop up a potentially sinking ship. The deciding factor for Markiplier was finding out about the company’s first-ever cinema camera with interchangeable lenses — the Mission 1 Pro ILS.

Markiplier, who self-funded and distributed his debut feature, Iron Lung, to a whopping $51 million at the box office, has made promoting DIY filmmaking his hill to die on. He sees GoPro’s new camera as a major step forward for filmmaking accessibility, so the tie-up between the parties may be a match made in heaven.

The Future: Given enough attention, Markiplier might just be able to turn around GoPro’s stock price and fuel a comeback.

Build a Holiday Creator Affiliate Program in 90 Days

Creators lock in holiday content calendars 90 days out, before brands figure out commissions. Waiting too long to launch an affiliate program means less runway to build demand and a missed shot at the best partnerships.

The 90-Day Holiday Sprint covers commissions, recruiting, and scaling a program at Day 30, 60, and 90.

40.7% of you voted I’ve never used either in yesterday’s poll: Are you (or were you) an X/Twitter user?

“Twitter was too combative, even before the name change, and I wouldn’t touch a Musk product with a 10-foot pole.”

“Once it became X, I was out.”

“I loved Twitter, warts and all, but immediately jumped ship when Musk bought it. Hoping the reboot figures out successful moderation — not just to bring back an old familiar, but as a working model for other SM platforms as well.”

“Back in the day, Twitter was my favorite platform. I’m currently pretty happy with Threads, except that it’s owned by Meta. I have great hope for Twitter.now.”

“I could never bring myself to delete what I did on Twitter.”
