Happy Tuesday, Future Party. Here are a couple of notable Winter Olympics metrics for you:
2 — the number of gold medals Team USA has captured so far, courtesy of Breezy Johnson in women’s downhill skiing and the US figure skaters in the team competition
4.1 million — the number of average viewers for the first Saturday of the Games, marking a record high for a Winter Olympics broadcast
Very different numbers. Equally awesome outcomes.

AI Agents Can Now Rent Humans
A new New York-based startup allegedly allows AI agents to autonomously hire humans when a task calls for a flesh-and-blood person.
The Big Picture: AI agents have evolved so rapidly over the past year that they can now work for days at a time without human intervention, finishing complex tasks across platforms. But there are still things code inside a stationary computer simply can’t do… which means humans are necessary to see some tasks through (hooray for legs and opposable thumbs).
Behind The App: The RentAHuman.ai app wants to be the Taskrabbit of chatbots.
Users can allegedly sign up to be “rentable humans,” listing their skills, location, and — most importantly — their pay rate for completing various tasks.
The AI agents can connect with these human contractors via the app’s MCP or API and provide the details of what needs to be done.
Once the human hire completes the job, they are paid through stablecoins… allegedly.
Human Prompt: Why do we keep saying allegedly? Reputable media sources aren’t sure whether RentAHuman is actually real… or, if it is, whether it’s a scam. That’s especially true when the startup (hilariously) dubs itself the “meatspace layer for AI.” Still, RentAHuman claims to have racked up 2.8 million site visits and onboarded 192,272 “rentable humans,” per Inc. If those numbers are accurate, there may be a strong business case for this platform — or for one that’s 100% real.
The Future: Considering the scale of the gig economy — and the persistent need for real people to handle tasks like picking up a package, installing a device, or transporting an item — even the most basic jobs may prove to be the ones that consistently require the human touch.

Americans Are Taking Themselves Out To Dinner
Americans are increasingly giving themselves a surprising little treat these days — having dinner out for one.
Why It Hits: Buying groceries and eating out are in a heated competition to see which breaks the bank faster. Coupled with a persistent loneliness epidemic that has left American adults in relationships at lower rates and with fewer friends than past generations, it’s only natural that eating alone would be on the rise.
Between The Dishes: Shareable plates are finding themselves in front of more solo diners.
According to a new study by food giant Yum! Brands, eating out alone has been on the rise since 2021 (yes, a COVID trend that stuck).
47% of fast-food runs are now solo outings, up from 31% in 2021, per Axios.
When it comes to nicer restaurants, single-person reservations increased 22% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the year before (still, they represent only about 1% of all reservations).
The trend is reshaping restaurant offerings, including more personal pizzas (a favorite of Gen Z and millennials).
Last Bite: Despite the economic woes, 70% of these diners don’t use discounts — they’re simply getting what they want, when they want it. That’s underscored by the fact that a quarter of them go out to eat alone to satisfy a specific snack or drink craving. Yum! Brands says the solo-dining trend reflects a larger movement in the food and beverage space called “choice therapy” — the ability to eat where, how, when, and what best fits your life.
In other words, it’s like cooking… but letting restaurants provide the ambiance and ingredients.
Next Meal: Prepare for some eating establishments to bill themselves as places where customers arrive solo and leave with friends by curating group tables. It could be a novel recipe for building community.

How do you feel about dining out solo?
31.9% of you voted I rarely buy bottled water in yesterday’s poll: When choosing bottled water, what factor matters most to you?
“Avoiding bottled water is the simplest way to cut back on single-use plastics — a little thing I can do to help reduce waste.”
“Don’t want any more plastic in my body.”
“While water is water, tap is cheap and bottles are expensive. The main factor with tap is the chance it contains radon, hydrocarbons (gasoline), bacteria, chloramines, or other contaminants — I’ll take the cheap bottled option, protect my health, spend a little, and switch brands on a whim.”
“I have a water filtration system in my home, so when I buy bottled water, it’s usually for ease of use at a party or outing or to have on hand in an emergency. I’ll pay for bottled water at a restaurant, so I know what I’m getting.”
